GC Beruju Aichan of Me Home, DM

Written by Karol Cummins and Mrs. Yabumoto

GC Beruju Aichan of Me Home, DM

GC Beruju Aichan of Me Home, DM, came to belong to Mrs. Yabumoto due to a series of happy circumstances. In the summer of1994, Kouji (Coujee cattery) suggested that Mrs. Yabumoto take home COUJEE MONICA who belonged to another friend, for a while. So Mrs. Yabumoto her home and bred her to CH.GRP.RW.AYANO MOONLIGHT OF ME HOME. On September 22, 1994, two female kittens were born, with two very distinct looks. Aichan looked lighter, smaller with lovely down-turned eyes having the overall ethereal effect of a Silver Persian. On the other hand, her sister was darker, bigger with a short nose and looked very much like a Solid Persian. Mrs. Yabumoto could choose which kitten she wanted from the breeding, but left the decision to the friend who owned COUJEE MONICA. Mrs Yabumotos’s friend chose the solid looking kitten instead Aichan, for two reasons. One, she did not have the opportunity to go to shows often and two, she felt the solid looking kitten would better suit her breeding program

Mrs. Yabumoto preferred showing to breeding so she was delighted to have Aichan in her home. When she was baby (about 2 months), she was tiny like a dickey-bird and had thin coat. So Mrs Yabumoto set about patiently nurturing her and in time Aichan developed a good well-muscled body with heavy boning.

Mrs. Yabumoto describes Aichan as cute rather than beautiful, noting that she has a very sweet disposition and is very warm and friendly to other cats and people. Mrs. Yabumoto cannot fault her as she very well balanced, having very beautiful green eyes, along with a brilliant platinum coat, short body and paws, small ears, strong chin and so on. As a kitten, she did not fair well at the shows because of her poor coat, but Mrs Yabumoto persisted and took her to many shows, some quite a distance so Aichan could become acquainted with the atmosphere of the show hall and traveling.

When Aichan was about eight months old, Mrs. Yabumoto unfortunately had to be hospitalized for about three weeks and decided to hire a groomer to take care of Aichan and most particularly, her coat. At that time, Aichan lived in the same room as her then soon to be first husband CH COUEE POLAR BEAR OF ME HOME. However, when the groomer was not looking, Polar Bear and Aichan feel in love and Aichan became pregnant. This breeding produced the lovely GRP, RW ME HOME LUCY. Mrs. Yabumoto felt very sorry for Aichan because she became pregnant at a young age, and knew that it would not have happened if she were home and not hospitalized. Thankfully, Aichan didn't have any trouble giving birth, but she was too young to take care of her kittens, so Mrs. Yabumoto raised the kittens herself and they thrived.

After her first litter, Mrs. Yabumoto tried showing her again, but she still had difficulty growing her coat. She put enormous energy and effort in trying everything to grow Aichan’s coat, all to no avail. In the adult classes, Aichan received a lot of red or yellow ribbons and did not easily earn her winner's ribbons. Fortunately, after she earned her Championship, she had developed a rich coat and quickly became a Grand Champion in just three one-day shows (4 rings each). Her most attractive feature is her friendly demeanor towards the judges. Aichan really enjoyed the shows and charmed all of the spectators and judges alike. Mrs. Yabumoto showed her only once after she became a Grand Champion and she won Best Cat in all breed rings. Mrs. Yabumoto was extremely happy and very proud of GC Beruju Aichan of Me Home.

Aichan had her second litter was more than a year later. Mrs. Yabumoto chose CH.DEMILO SHINING STAR OF ME HOME for her second husband. Mrs. Yabumoto felt her cats were a bit darker in color than she would have liked so she decided to import Demilo Shining Star from the US to lighten the coat color of his future ME HOME offspring. Aichan bred to Shining Star produced GC ME HOME SUN SPIRIT as well as two other litter brothers. Even though Aichan was more mature, she still refused to do anything for the babies in this litter, she even refused to lick them, so Mrs. Yabumoto had to take care of all the kittens this time too. However, Mrs. Yabumoto was delighted to watch Sun Spirit develop an enormous coat that was long and flowing. Aichan repeatedly came back in season shortly following her second litter and cried and cried so Mrs. Yabumoto gave in and bred her again to CH DEMILO SHINING STAR OF ME HOME. This time Aichan had a litter of three girls and this time she showed a bit of interest in the kittens, but not consistently, so Mrs. Yabumoto raised this litter too with little help from Aichan. In this litter there were two beautiful girls GC.ME HOME FORGET-ME-NOT and CH ME HOME FIRST KISS. Mrs. Yabumoto felt FIRST KISS was the better of the two kittens. One day a friend came to visit Mrs. Yabumoto and fell in love with FIRST KISS and really wanted to take her home and she did. This friend was not much interested in showing, but Mrs. Yabumoto felt she could have Granded too

GC.RW ME HOME PRINCESS KOMACHI was born in the forth litter. Aichan had to have a c-section for this delivery, but unfortunately the second kitten was born dead. After her surgery, Aichan again forgot to be a mother and Mrs. Yabumoto raised KOMACHI herself. Mrs. Yabumoto then decided to stop breeding her any more babies considering her disinterest in mothering her babies.

A few years later Mrs. Yabumoto visited the home of another friend and saw a gorgeous Seal Point Himalayan male CH MILLEFEUILLE YANKEE BOOGIE with very deep sapphire blue eyes and asked if she could breed him to Aichan, forgetting all the trouble spent raising her kittens. This breeding produced GRC.ME HOME GREAT SUNRISE and another baby who looked like very much Aichan. Fortunately, Aichan finally became maternal and took care of her babies with much love without much help. Mrs. Yabumoto placed the kitten who looked like Aichan as a breeder and kept Sun Rise. CH.ME HOME FANFARE and another female were born in her sixth litter. Mrs. Yabumoto did not have to worry this time as Aichan did very well as mother. CH.ME HOME FANFARE has earned 85 points so far in only a show so she will be GRC soon.

Even though Aichan was not good at taking care of her babies, she produced nine kittens all with very good type and the best from each litter Granded and thus she achieved the Distinguished Merit award. Mrs. Yabumoto is very thankful to Aichan for all of her lovely kittens and has now had her spayed so she can enjoy her life without estrus. Mrs. Yabumoto loves her sweet character very much. She is descendent of hybrid cats bred by Kouji (Coujee cattery) and memento of CH, GP, RW/NCCGC Ayano Moonlight of Me Home that I loved very much. Aichan fulfilled her duties and now provides a lot of happiness with her children and grandchildren. GC Beruju Aichan of Me Home, DM’s bloodline will continue to her descendants to improve Silver Persians.
